Sphatik (also known as crystal) is considered to be a powerful gemstone in Hinduism and is said to have many benefits when worn as a mala (a necklace or rosary used for prayer or meditation). A Sphatik Mala is a type of rosary used in Hindu meditation and prayer. It is made up of 108 beads, which represent the 108 energy points in the human body.

Original Sphatik will always have inclusion / impurity, it will be visible as fine crack / line inside beads, reflects on putting light. Higher quality Sphatik will have lesser inclusions. Artificial Sphatik mala beads are generally made of glass or synthetic plastic fiber. 

The Sphatik or crystal gemstone, when held in hand, will feel cool, which is a quality of the gemstone. You may hold the Sphatik Mala in hand to check the temperature. A glass beads will not feel cool to touch. Sphatik Mala is suitable for individuals of any zodiac sign (Rashi), making it a versatile and neutral gemstone that can be worn without adverse effects.

Cleanse and energize: 

Before wearing your mala for the first time, cleanse it with sunlight, moonlight, or sage smoke. You can also chant mantras like "Om Namah Shivaya" while holding the beads. 

Energising with water:

The first step in energising the Spatika crystal is soaking it in plain clean water to cleanse the bead that has been used for a long time. By doing so the dirt particles and the negative energies in it will be removed. The clear the crystal is the better the positive energy absorption.
