Generally speaking, you need to use roughly 15-20% beeswax to 25-30% butter and 45-50% oil. The more butter and wax you use, the thicker or 'sturdier' your lip balm will be. This is good if you want your lip balm to stay on for quite a while. It will also be 'creamier', which is how we like it!  
Now what if you want some colored lip balm which gives you a lipgloss like look. Here is one more easy recipe which will give you shades of pink to purple.


VASELINE LIP BALM WITH BEETROOT FOR PINK COLOR LIPS

  • 1 ½ tablespoon of Vaseline (or any petroleum jelly) 
  • ½ tablespoon of beetroot juice
  • ½ tablespoon of honey
  • Mix a little bit of Vaseline and honey together in a container.
  • Add beetroot juice to the mix. Don’t stir the ingredients together.
  • Put the container in the microwave for about thirty seconds.
  • After removing it from the microwave, stir it together, transfer it into a tin, and let it set for thirty minutes.
